Overview
DUCK DASH is a children's book concept about a duck who grows up in a chicken coop, yearning for freedom. Despite being treated with familiarity by most chickens, the duck dreams of swimming in ponds and meeting others like itself. Together with the chickens, they plot an escape. This project focused on developing a believable, story-driven world through original character designs, props, and environments.
THE WORK
The Challenge
Creating visual cohesion between characters and environments. After gathering inspiration and completing anatomy studies I illustrated the environment and realized it was overly detailed compared to my character designs and would not look believable.
The Solution
I reimagined the environments in a simpler style that matched the characters. I used the same brushes in all illustrations, which resulted in consistent rendering and linework.
