Overview

Hansei.gg is a creator development agency that helps Twitch streamers grow on YouTube. As Lead Artist, I designed their mascot and supporting assets to bring personality to the startup. Working within their established brand guidelines and stylescape, I created a visual identity that made their services feel approachable.

The Challenge

The mascot design needed to be friendly, expressive, and adaptable. I started off with some sketches that had round, blobby shape language. My first iteration became too stiff, feeling like stock images and lacking the original playfulness. Additionally, fitting the mascot into the established color palette required some color swatches.

The Solution

I took the sketch-like quality that brought life to the character in the sketches into the final. I also tweaked facial characteristics to look more doodle-like and expressive. For the comic strips, I illustrated two 4-panel series showing the problem (streamers burning out from editing) and solution (Hansei.gg handling video editing while streamers stay energized).

PROBLEM - Comic Series #1 1. Streamer is streaming. 2. Streamer editing stream footage. (Clock ticks to depict time passing.) 3. Streamer returns to streaming, but is tired now. 4. Streamer is burnt out - laying on the ground.

SOLUTION - Comic Series #2 1. Streamer is streaming. 2. Streamer and Hansei team have a video meeting. 3. Streamer returns to streaming while Hansei team video edits. 4. Streamer engagement on platforms increase! (Happy streamer)
